Board of Trustees Duties and Expectations:
Serve a full three‐year term with the possibility of serving an additional three year term.
Attend all scheduled Board meetings and actively participate in Board discussions. Board meetings are typically once per month during the period from September through June.
Understand the school’s organization, mission, goals, objectives, and Bylaws. Stay informed about the school’s current programs and issues.
Serve on committees and accept special assignments as requested and as possible.
Make the All Newton Music School a charitable giving priority. There is no minimum donation, but 100% participation from trustees is expected.
Attend major school‐sponsored fundraising and cultivation events, as well as school performances, recitals, and other programs as frequently as possible.
Help solicit funds, and help open doors for others to raise funds.
Understand that the board sets policies and focuses on long range and strategic issues. Board members are not directly involved in specific management, personnel or program issues.
Avoid any conflict of interest or the appearance of such conflict in any and all events on behalf of the school.
In summary, the goal of the Board of Trustees is to have each member participate fully in his or her role as a steward of the All Newton Music School.
